San Diego geology is quite varied and quite fun. There are many fault lines that have decent surface expressions, ancient sea cliffs, sand dunes, fossils, and more. A great deal of the City of San Diego is situated on mesas which are mostly ancient marine terraces. This website won’t be able to cover it all, but I will cover the highlights and some of the special features that make San Diego what it is today.
