Summit
3400′
This was called Summit (3400′), also known as Boiling Point, as this is the highest point on US 6 along the foothills of the Sierra Pelona Mountains. Passing lanes were constructed here in 1952 to help ease the ever-increasing traffic load. In 1963, this whole stretch of Sierra Highway was bypassed by the Antelope Valley Freeway.
