Repaving in June 2005 just south of Ave S exposed some original concrete, most likely from 1921.
Here, US 6 crosses the San Andreas Fault. Una Lake, to the east of the highway, is a sag pond along the fault. Many springs exist here thanks to the San Andreas. An old alignment, before the passing lanes were added here in the early 1950’s, exists just to the west of the roadway.
From here, you can get a nice view of US 6 and the Southern Pacific Railroad entering the main part of the Antelope Valley.
