Here, US 6 reaches the town of Rosamond and is the first town on US 6 in Kern County. Rosamond Blvd., the cross street in the photo, is also one of the main roads into Edwards Air Force Base (formerly Muroc). The freeway bypassed this town in 1968.

South of town, Sierra Highway crosses many small dry creek beds. Some of them have been given larger culverts, which all date to 1931 as shown here.
