US 99 / Ridge Route Junction – Castaic
Here, the old Ridge Route and US 99 separated. The Ridge Route was completed in late November 1915 and bypassed by the Ridge Route Alternate (US 99) on October 29, 1933. One can see here the 3-lane “suicide” lane highway that parts of old 99 once were. This town was founded in 1915 as a rest stop along the Ridge Route. Now its a major truck stop along I-5. The next major stop is in Gorman.
