Here in Gorman, US 99 was constructed with three lanes in 1933. These lanes are visible as black lines or cracks in the road. In 1951, US 99 was converted to a four lane highway through here and bypassed the town. That alignment is mostly underneath I-5. This is also where the Ridge Route Alternate ended. Even though this town has been bypassed by the Interstate, it still thrives as a stop for basic services. The Carl’s Jr. is one of the busiest in the chain. Just south of town, State 138 met US 99, now I-5. To continue north from here, turn left at Gorman School Rd, go under the freeway to Peace Valley Rd / Ralphs Ranch Rd. Turn Right at Peace Valley Rd / Ralphs Ranch Rd.
