The first segment of the new incarnation of State Route 11 is open. It runs from State 905 to Enrico Fermi Dr, about one mile in length. The plans call for a tolled freeway running east to a new truck border crossing east of the current Otay Mesa (State 905) crossing. Construction on the extension east began in 2019 and has been nearly complete for a while now. There is no estimate when the extension to Siempre Viva Rd will open.
