Route 27 starts is journey at Pacific Coast Highway (SR-1), runs through the Santa Monica Mountains, then through the San Fernando Valley finally ending at the 118 Freeway. Topanga Canyon Blvd varies from a two-lane road in the south to a six-lane boulevard in the San Fernando Valley. South of US 101, State 27 is a very scenic route with lots of curves and vistas to enjoy.

Old segment of Topanga in the San Fernando Valley between Marilla Street and Plummer Street. This twin-slab concrete dates to 1930. Topanga Canyon Blvd was realigned here in 1972.
